From the mouths of babes.........

Jackson is our big little two year old now! We had a super fun tailgate party for his second birthday in February.

He's a sponge when it comes to imitiating actions, words, etc.  He loves to climb and jump on anything.  The other night he was very quiet in his room and I went to check on him.  What I found was Jackson climbing up on his ottoman and leaping to the chair in his room like a bull frog! He thought it was hilarious and did it over and over again until he feel between the gap between the ottoman and the chair.................and then he did it one more time for good measure before settling down for story time before bed.

He got tubes in December and it may be a coincindence, but he's turned in to quite the chatter box lately.  Of course, his favorite word is, "No!".  We udnerstand about 60% - 70% of what he actually says.  I've wondered where he gets some of his words and have started figuring out that they are things that mommy and daddy say that we are not completely aware of.  Here are a couple of examples:

1) "Oh. Okay!" Instead of saying "yes" Jackson responds with "oh. okay." as in Mommy responding to Jackson with "Oh. Okay..........." when he asks nicely for something.
2) "Thanks, babe." After hearing daddy say this, Jackson responded to me carrying his book up the stairs for him with "Thanks, babe."
3) Jackson got a flashlight from his "G" for Christmas and his Uncle Marc showed him how to use it as a microphone to rap.  Anytime he picks up his flashlight, he starts rapping and holds it out for whoever is around to rap with him!

I'm sure as his vocabulary grows, it will only get more entertaining.  We sure do love our little booger!

Roller King!

February is a busy month for the Sklar grandkids.  Emma, Jackson and Abby were all born in February.  Emma turned seven this year and had her birthday party at the roller skating rink.  How fun is that? I have the BEST memories of roller skating at Red Wing Rollerway when my sister and I were growing up.  We'd also go down with our mom to the local outdoor shopping center when it was closed and roller skate up and down the covered walkways for what seemed like hours.  We never got tired of it!

I definitely wasn't the coolest kid on the block when I skated.  I never had a pair of speed skates like some of my peers.  And at Emma's birthday party I realized I wasn't the coolest adult on the block either.  While the kids were sporting their in line skates, I still had on my brown high tops with orance wheels and rubber stoppers for brakes just like I did when I was seven.

However, I had my chick magnet with me.  His name is Jackson.  Not even two yet, he put on his adjustable skates (which are made for three year olds) and cruised the rink with the ease of a champion.  All of the girls flocked to him and cheered him on as he skated from one side of the rink to the other.  I think his Pop was a little jealous!  Jackson had a blast and in true fashion, pitched a royal fit when it was time to take off the skates.

I see new skates in his future.....................and some good knee pads.
